OUR MISSION STATEMENT

"Cowan Heights Elementary School, in partnership with home and community, will provide a stimulating environment to ensure the well-rounded education of all its students in preparation for life long learning. We are dedicated to helping them become happy, respectful, responsible, independent and caring community members who appreciate themselves, others and the world around them."

Cowan Heights Elementary is dedicated to providing a safe, collaborative, positive atmosphere that nurtures the mind, body, heart and spirit. We are growing as a school community, through mutual respect, acceptance, shared decision-making and positive role models. We believe in learners who will take risks, assume responsibility and empower each other to be leaders in a changing world.

Our Programs
We follow the prescribed program as set out by the Department of Education. We offer instruction in English and French Immersion at each grade level. There are currently two classes of English and one class of French at each Grade. We offer Intensive Core French in Grade Six when there is sufficient parental support for that program.
Our Staff
Cowan Heights Elementary School has a highly competent and dedicated staff committed to helping students grow to become the best they can be in all aspects of their lives.
Cowan Heights Elementary School staff is comprised of:

30 teachers (including Principal and Vice-Principal, Guidance Counselor, Music, Gym, Learning Resources, and Special Education teachers)
Itinerant teachers - Speech-language Pathology, Band
Student Assistants
School Chaplain
School Nurse
Secretary
Maintenance Custodian, Custodian and Cleaner
